A mind fart, according Urban Dictionary, happens when you think something is brewing but nothing comes out. A mind fart show has to be something that was promising initially but turned out to be a letdown. At the beginning, this show had a simple formula that was capable of capturing my attention: good chemistry that effused from the characters. But the magic faded away when Mao decided to have a go with Kooooouichi, rather than choosing saxo-boy. Moral of the story: the osananajimi bond is a powerful force that defies all odds, second only to the power of siscon/wincest.

Code Geass R2

Code Geass was very interesting to me because  it had featured an anti-hero like protagonist whose ideals were those that I could somehow relate to. I was initially excited by the first season because it had so much potential in becoming a compelling story about idealism and deep sh*t stuff but my hopes were dashed by its convoluted plot. Putting my disappointment aside, it was still an interesting watch to follow because of all the laughter it had brought. Do not get me started about how many memes and crazy shopped pictures it had spawned. So what if some people said it was a horrible show? They were just tsundere for it. After the show had ended, most anime fans suffered from withdrawal symptoms because of a lack of Code Geass. Code Geass, a personal disappointment and an unexpected surprise for me.

Most Spectacular Anime of 2008

Macross Frontier

I believe a spectacular “thing” is something that just simply succeeds at the task of awing the crowd. I, personally, found the first 15 episodes of Macross Frontier to be an overwhelming experience. Knowing how popular this show is, there is no need for me to reiterate its formula for success. Uh. Nevermind; I shall. Addictive music. Dogfights. POP SINGERS. Space battles that embodify the idea of “AWESOMENESS.” This show was one big romantic opera. I call it a romantic piece because it was brimming with an epic sense as I am constantly reminded that it is a tale of mankind expanding deeper into space.

Best Action Anime of 2008

SOUL EATER

People love to look down upon shounen shows because they are just about fighting. Well, it is an action genre so what can you expect? Hate bad shounen and not good shounen is my policy. This year’s best action anime for the Blue Fox Alley happens to be a shounen. Nothing can go wrong if you have Excalibur.

Gundam OO Season 1

Gundam OO had an ending that could have been more riveting if it had gone easy on the emo. But after overlooking that issue, which is always an irk as I am allergic to emo, you would fine a decently conducted conclusion. No one had expected the almighty Gundam meisters to suffer any casualties so the deaths of Lockon and other Celestial Being members brought a shock. Suffice to say, you have to watch the ending of the first season in order to understand why it has the best drama for the year 2008 in my opinion.

Junjou Romantica

I strongly believe that there are some aspects in life that simply cannot be explained. Defying logic and rationality, I found myself exploring the treacherous domain of butsecks and unrealistic homosexual romance. Fine. I was just watching this for the lulz. It was really entertaining. It was either this or Kanokon.

Kaioshin-Sama

I belong to neither the “Kaioshin is nothing but a Sunrise fanboy” faction nor the “WTF IS WITH THE GUNDAM HATE! WE NEED CHANGE ON THE INTERNETS” faction, but the magnitude of the controversy that this one brave man has stirred is worthy of remembering as we are close to the end of this year. Nevertheless, this lovely piece of epic drama has shown the tendency for people to stir up reactions of extreme polarities when it comes to interacting on the Internet. But I believe just like how we view Code Geass, we are all tsundere for Kaioshin-sama. We love you!

College hasth made me come out of the closet. It isth my true calling to be gay gay and yeah I really love Junjou Romantica because it is the besssth yaoi show eva! *teeth smack*

The likable cast from the firsth season isth back for another season of buttseckssth romance for us to enjoy. The firsth epeesode startsth with a statuss report of our favourite couple Misaki and Akihiiko still maintaining a healthy relationship. Nothing happened much except for the introduction of Akihiko’s brother, Haruhiko and I am soo looking forward to seeing his chest being bared!

Misaki is so cute! Kyaaaa~

Looks like my other self is going to have some problems handling me because I have hidden his medication. When the he wakes up, he is going to be appalled by his new memories of Junjou Romantica. Ufufufufu….

I was doing some weight training while watching the show and I found myself constantly laughing at how ‘weak’ Misaki was. DUDE HOW COULD LET THAT TEDDY BEAR MAN PUSH YOU AROUND LIKE THAT? That was most obvious when Misaki had yet to realise that he would love to have a man-saber in his butt during the first episode. WOULD IT NOT BE SENSIBLE TO STRUGGLE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WHEN A MAN IS TOUCHING YOUR CROTCH? I WOULD HAVE PUNCHED HIM, BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND OR NOT. Oi Misaki! Show the man he cannot have his way all the time!

But then, Misaki could not have been that silly! I have come to deduce that Teddy Bear Man possesses Eel Hands, and is capable of sending small jolts through Misaki’s body through his hands to paralyse him.

Ufufufufu… I have seen five episodes and the sequence of events for each episode has been deciphered by the perspicacious ID Sojourner. Our boys are faced with a dilemma-> the uke goes tsun tsun and emo -> the seme gives his silly bishie grin -> seme touches uke -> uke blurts out words like ‘I cannot take it anymore!’ -> intense sword dueling.

Oh oh oh! I wish I had written the script for this! I know there is a manga for this but screw the manga! If this anime is to continue like the way it has been, it is definitely going to fall under the category of ‘Oops. I missed a chance at GREATNESS’. Do not underestimate the power of compelling stories, because that will even win over the the skeptics out there. The BL may turn people off but if your story is great enough, even the guys will not be able to resist it! Yes! Urh… I just cannot resist the touch!

Firstly, if I had written this, WHY ALL THE PHYSICAL CONTACT AND THE URH URH URH? I rather focus more on the social dynamics of the characters. Not that they are totally lacking but it is not sufficient to make this an accurate portrayal of romance between homosexuals! Oh I AM SORRY. THIS IS SIMPLY YAOI. AND IF JUNJOU ROMANTICA is to be written that way, it will not bring the lulz for me.

Best romance action comedy for this season. When I say romance action, you get what I mean.

What can I say? Better late than never and this post is rather essential. I mean, the P-Meister was whining about my random posts like this and that.

 It has been a bumpy ride and it will continue to be that way. While the P-Meister and I continue to seek our comfort zone in blogging, this blog has been a bowl of random shit. So much that my alter-ego, ID Sojourner, has been running around and having some fun of his own.

 Well I have to assure you peeps that we do follow ongoing shows of the current season. But unfortunately I do not really do episodic summaries and my friend P-Meister does his normally after viewing 5 episodes which makes them not really episodic.

So what I would usually do is write my feelings toward the shows and not summaries on them. Why is that so? That is because episodic summaries require a lot of humour and I suck at that. Sooner or later I will run out of funny thoughts and all picture captions will be reduced to *Insert Funny Quote* and I doubt that will bring the lulz.

As for the P-Meister, he is usually slow on his posts because of his ReAL LiFe that comprises of being a medicine student, tending to a girlfriend who forces him to watch Korean dramas and playing a stupid MMORPG called Guild Wars (not really part of the real world actually). One reason why Guild Wars is stupid is because there is a profession called Assassin and you see lots of those being played by teenagers who name them UzuzumakiNarut0 or Sasuk3Best44.

 I did mention why this post is essential because it is meant to accentuate on the fact that THIS IS AN ANIME BLOG. Well then, let us see what the minstrels of the Blue Fox Alley have their eyes on this Spring.

The P-Meister’s List

1. Soul Eater

 This anime is special for its wonderful artwork. The fight scenes and other animation are beautifully animated, with melee attacks not represented by flash, bangs and shadows but by good character animation. Besides that, it is not lacking in humour and depth. Guess who did the music… Taku Iwasaki! The same guy who did it for TTGL!! Wanna get some blood pumping? Don’t miss this!!

2. Amatsuki

An anime set in the Edo period brings about something different. This anime I would say is one of the more emotionally exciting ones this season. It is 13 episodes long but not widely advertised. I guarantee that its eye candy and wouldn’t annoy you. Some parts really makes u wonder what you will do if u could travel to the past. Anyway, I’m SURE there will be a second season too. The anime is going at the perfect pace so we won’t need to worry about it being spoiled by fillers.

3. Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

Probably one of the most craziest anime to watch!! All the chaos and madness makes its storyline not matter at all. Everything is random and gives you brainspasms after watching! It moves at a speed where humans cannot follow! The best thing is… ITS ENJOYABLE!

4. Macross Frontier

Somehow everyone is watching this right? The nice 3D battles are what make me happy. GO WAMMO MECHAS!! Pictures below under Sojourner section.

5. To Love Ru

No particular reason, I found a dating/rape/submission sim with Haruna in it. LOL. Refer to above picture. If you want to know where to get it, email me… oops, you don’t have my email, oh well!!

As I’m having exams atm, I created a To-Watch List. I’ll be doing a mid-term review, so look forward to them.

1. Itazura Na Kiss

I see unconventional dynamics are work in this show perhaps? Surely we can expect a Happy Ending™ when this show comes to an end but hey it is always the process that matters. Here we have the guy as an academic elite while the girl on the other hand is quite at the bottom of the academic food chain. As I have mentioned, it is the journey and not the destination that matters. I am going to keep watching this show as long as it amuses or charms me. P.S I think Kotoko is evil but that is fine with me.

2. Kaiba

lolwhut. I am guilty! I am guilty! Oh what an intellectual narcissist I am. Obscure drawing as compared to current moe-style art means different for me. I must watching something that is different to prove that I am smart and capable of appreciating sophisticated stuff like Kaiba! Watching Kaiba = I rock. Alright that was stupid.

On a more serious note. The message that Kaiba is trying to send is still alluding me due to my poor perception. However it is still very intriguing to follow.

3. Macross Frontier

There is one very simple method to brainwash me into following a show fervently. Hint: Usage of music as one of the themes for the story. To put it simply, Macross Frontier has what the fans have always loved the franchise about. You can be new to Macross and still fall for it.  So what is so great about it? Nothing beats finding it out yourself, go watch it if you have not done so.

4. Code Geass, Lelouch of the Rebellion R2

Oh Lelouch. As you can see… Your warped sense of idealism has changed your features. 

This show is like a tsundere to me. It screws with my mind with its bombastic galore of unrealistic theatricals and yet I keep coming back for more. If Macross Frontier is the Sun of my current anime viewing, then Code Geass R2 is the Moon. I cannot live without watching Code Geass, it is quite good in a sense.

What makes Code Geass so great is that Lelouch and Suzaku are not your conventional ‘protagonist’ and ‘antagonist’. In fact, I do not even know who is the good guy and the bad guy.  

There are also other shows that are on my To-Watch List. My intuition tells me that I will probably like them.
