Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts, but my computer is totally busted now, with a faulty power supply. I will get it repaired soon. As for now, i can only rely on the TV for anime, and the only anime I watch is Spider Riders and Cowboy Bepop(which i have finished) and Pokemon (which i have watched too). The rest of the time is on Family Guy. Now i know how terrible it is to live without a computer and fansubs. Fansub forever, TV hardly have anime even with about 400+ channels.
After watching the first one and a half episode of this, I was forced to stop because of a girlfriend who preferred Friends and Sex and the City. Sigh, not having a computer sucks. Anyway, got a question to ask the masses… Should I pick up Spider Riders or ditch it? For those who never heard of Spider Riders, like me, let me give a general idea.
The world
Spider Riders occurs in a world, called the inner world, which is a hidden world on earth. A boy, called Hunter Steel, following his gramps advice manages to enter the inner world. Like many other world, there are prophecies, that an earthen(someone from the outer world or normal world) would bring about great disaster. A spider, called Shadow, found him, and decides to get rid of him. FYI, the spider is a mecha which talks.
Whilst they speak, some foes, the Invectids,(known as Insectors in Jap ver.) misunderstand them to be ‘master and pet’, therefore attacking them. Shadow alone was able to thrash the fodder till the bad guy summoned his spider, which was bigger and stronger. Shadow was then defeated.
Hunter however has a mannacle equipped that turns him to a rider like hero and apparently spider riders are people who ride on spiders, like dragon riders, but except its on spiders. The manacle provides him with an outfit and a weapon, as well as provide an armor to his spider, Shadow, regenerating his powers. Mannacles are equipment that are given to great heroes. *i missed the part on how he got it, will have to wait till my computer is fixed* With that, the episode ends, and a cute girl joins the party conveniently.
A very bad summary as i skipped part of the opening, but thats the general idea.
My thoughts so far
Interesting plot, i always had a thing for science fiction, but the development is so slow. If feedback is good, i will pick it up. It was released on 2006 which isn’t too far away too. Anyone got experience?
Additional notes, it is currently on air in Japan as the series was put on hiatus during its second season. As for Canada, all the 52 episodes have been aired.

Dude? No English OP? The English OP is fucking awesome, way cooler than the Japanese one…which is just so generic.

Never watched it before, so I can’t comment. But having a faulty computer is the pits. If my computer broke down, I’ll probably punch holes in the wall. Goes to show how dependent we’ve become on that piece of machinery. Its time to go be a mountain hermit.

I find it instructive how you’ll easily find the Japanese one if you search for “Spider Riders OP,” but easily find the English one if you search for “Spider Riders opening.”
