Detroit Metal City: Special! OMFG AWESOMESAUCE!

As soon as I watched this, I went nuts. It was so hilarious and enjoyable. Perhaps the best 20 minutes of anime humour I ever had for a long time. Listening to the lyrics were morally questionable at first, but the background of the story required it to be that way. Of course, the whole story isn’t about killing and raping your parents of course. Only the lyrics are.

Check out the amazon. LOL

General Idea

The lyrics has not held back on censorship as a man(Negishi) in a demon mask sings grotesque songs about killing your parents and raping them. Krauser II was what he was famous for, but nobody knows his real identity because he was always behind a mask. Being filled with obscene songs, a first impression was that the song was a dedication to the Devil. Perhaps. As we know, the story is about a person who is a virgin, never knew how to rape or murder, has healthy parents who would be worried about him. Negishi probably wouldn’t even hurt a cat. Just listen to his song when he plays it in his normal self. Also, the old man’s reply would probably make Sojourner start to like emos.

His band however conveys an image that they are  rapists and murderers. His band’s manager seems to want to convey this message as she gets ’wet’ reading about it. In the park, his rape song was epic, as he could say the word rape ten times in one second, whilst it was about raping hard and fast. What a beautiful pun. His imitators were useless compared to him. Being against raping, I liked the cover of the CD, which said ‘Thanks to music, I am not a murder or a rapist.’

Some imitators interrupted his music...
Some imitators interrupted his music… with his own music…

Time to get some punk!

Let me show you the way!

Let me show you the way!

He also has a sweetheart which he knew from long ago, Aikawa. Conversation was going well until he was confronted by some of his fans(who didn’t know his identity) as he nailed his own band down with words so as to impress his girl. Eventually, he was forced to play an ‘air guitar’ to show his respect to his own band. Alas, the hero comes to save the day, or not… As he was entranced while playing, he accidentally said that he wanted to rape Aikawa, subconsciously, gaining the respect of the wrong party.

Can you believe that he wrote both songs?

Looking deeper into the picture

This anime says a lot about our culture. Firstly, it is about how the world view satanic rock artists. Not all the time the artists are satanic. The lyrics are also not things we should adore or follow, but rather a proof of a living hell and demon within each and everyone of us. I believe, all humans are evil, how we release is however up to us. We can use it to hurt others physically or release that stress that pins us down through safer means, such as music(or watching hentai).

The fans however are shallow and respect the song and its lyrics. Whenever I listen to rock music, I feel like something has been lifted off me. I don’t need to go around raping people as I know the desires and thoughts are not healthy to have and sometimes we just need to shout it out, just like DMC. Probably a last message would be ‘do not judge a book by its cover’. It is not right for us to say a band is bad or good, but rather not say anything and accept that everyone has a reason to do things.

My thoughts

I think that the anime is rather fast paced, interesting and straight to the point. The scenes were extremely funny and there is no sign of holding back from the artist. It sure made use of every single second. I urge all who can withstand vulgar and ethically questionable lyrics to give this masked band anime a look. Meanwhile, we should be aware of a few masked people who we see in our daily lives and forget how they slowly lead us to death:

Through hefty calories of delicious burgers,

I can feel my heart pump harder.

  • And not a moment too soon! The movie’s looking mighty awesome too, since it stars L’s actor, whatever his name is.

  • Dude. You do not know what emos are. He is not an emo.

  • The new genre of Death Metal – Death Metal Hard Rape.

  • Split personalities FTW.

And I bet no one has tried raping the Tokyo Tower before.

  • the anime bloggers need to start a death metal band too and act like krasuer II or maybe not. DMC is probably the only show i will watch this season since most of the shows features boobies and boobies.

  • I can go classic guitar with you guys. (:

It took me a while to get used to the vulgarities in Black Lagoon and it’ll take me much more time to appreciate and to get used to the vulgarities if I’m to try this (I think). I’ll give it a pass for now, too much work, too little time. O_o

  • we need guitarers that can play with their teeth and write DMC songs. Lol

@Hynavian, Black lagoon is probably the only anime that english is actually useable. and vulgarities is good, adds realism. anyway DMC isn’t really the vulgar cept during the songs.
