Birdy the Mighty Decode 1 & 2: Do not judge an anime by its title

Alas, human make mistakes, but the P-Meister is more than human, so he makes even graver mistakes; that is to judge an anime by its title. Whilst he said he has 90% chance to drop it, it seems, the force wasn’t strong with him. The tides have turned and I decided that there is a 90% chance of me to follow it instead.

I look so human.

I look so human.

And the basics… this time its spoiler free as much as possible.

General plot:

The story involves a intergalactical police kind of system, where birdy is one of those pesky reknowned policewoman who is feared by all criminals. Her target is Geegar and Bacillus(sounds like a particular shape of bacteria), where both managed to hide on earth. Turns out that earth host a huge population of aliens. Loads of things happened in between but during a fight with Geegar, Birdy mistakes Senkawa Tsutomu as Geegar and punches through his body. In order to save him, she has no choice but take his consciousness into her body. Only one person can be conscious at one time, but they can communicate with each other. Birdy goes after Geegar at night while Senkawa lives his normal life in the day, well… most of the day.

Looking deeper into the picture:

I believe that the storyline has something to do about life on earth. Whilst earth is so backwards, Birdy questions the aliens sanity for staying there. However, she is paired with a boy, who actually cares a lot about others. Whilst she is too focused on catching criminals to care about others, I believe she could have some moral lessons from Senkawa.

Also, the uber cute Nakasugi and Hayamiya would probably have something to do with the storyline too. I have a feeling that Nakasugi is an alien, notice her face looks the same at every angle. HOHOHO, but I may be wrong. As usual, great humans make great mistakes.

My thoughts

Eyecandywise, this series is a good hit. Battles are animated nicely and the choreography is good. I thought ep 1 was done much better but perhaps it was just the circumstances. We’ll judge this in the future. Other eyecandies are like the picture below! If only Arita Shion did more shots in the next episode, it will make P-Meister and other sausage-floggers happy. (Note, sausage floggers are men who watch anime for cute girls and can be often seen loitering around blogs with female writers, increasing the view counts significantly.)

Storyline wise, it is pretty simple. It doesn’t deserve an impressive score but its pretty enjoyable. I doubt there will be any romance given the current atmosphere but things may change. It is also not extra funny. An ordinary 7/10 typical story. However, the first two episodes felt like semi-fillers so the pace may change in the next one.

Next episode: Bacillus has eaten up Geegars. I’m sure his power would have increased too! I have a feeling Birdy might hurt somebody again.

  1. SHION IS HOT. Birdy, not so. And Leeron makes a comeback as a robot squid.

  2. At first I thought that it might be some “lame show” judging from the title “Birdy”. Maybe it’s on birds or some weak character that can be pked in a hit just like a bird or something. However, I gave episode 1 a try and it was not what I had expected; the plot totally surprised me with the male protagonist dying in the very first episode. After finishing episode 2, I’m now on the Birdy wagon waiting for it’s weekly release. (:

I always judge shows by their titles. Hasn’t failed me yet. A title like Birdy the Mighty Decode just sounds too stupid not to watch.

  4. Thanks for the ideas you discuss through this website. In addition, many young women who seem to become pregnant tend not to even try and get health insurance coverage because they are full of fearfulness they won’t qualify. Although many states currently require that insurers offer coverage no matter the pre-existing conditions. Prices on these guaranteed programs are usually greater, but when with the high cost of medical care it may be your safer approach to take to protect a person’s financial potential.
