Last night at 5 am, The P-Meister finished the wonderful game, called Apollo Justice, Ace Attorney, otherwise known as Gyakuten Saiban 4! Seems like Capcom has ran out of names. First it was Phoenix Wright(Ryuichi Naruhodo) as he was always right… I guess. Now its Apollo Justice(Housuke Odoroki)because he is just? Next time what would it be? Anna Attorney and Judge Judy? I kind of marathoned the game, so all the information remains fresh. This game is uber popular, with more than 150 topics on the gamefaqs forum. It is a must have for all DS fans.
Klavier Gavin: Guilty Love
Some people may be discouraged to play it because Phoenix Wright isn’t there. Well, its not true as half the story is about him, and u get to play as him at least for a while. I liked the story for this. However, not all our questions are answered. Not to worry as Capcom is going to release GS5 soon which I believe will make use of the new Jurist system.
The new Prosecutor
Capcom decided to pull out the Ken and Ryu thing again, with Klavier being Ken of course. I was happy Ken… oops, i mean Klavier was one who constantly seeked the truth. True that it lacked the intense pressure of fighting an EVIL prosecutor, but the final scene where Klavier and Apollo did a tag team combo to nail Kristoph and ended with with a double hadouken was epic. I liked Klavier’s music theme too. This song called guilty love has gotten over me. Hear it above.

Compared to the previous prosecutors, I still think Payne rocks. Sadly we didn’t get to see him in action. He probably retired. LOL.
The Jurist System
A murder occurs, doh! Phoenix Wright strikes back!! THIS TIME AS AN ATTORNEY!! The case then points out the reason why Phoenix wasn’t a lawyer anymore, hinting the weakness of the current legal system. The next two cases were good, in a way it manages to display the weakness of the current legal system, one of which Apollo got lucky. Also, the cases were somehow tied, but we don’t know how.

And the fourth case was a big bang, all the cases were tied nicely and you know the truth, but the legal system would prove Kristoph innocent. Alas, Kristoph almost escaped, but he didn’t. Thanks to the new jurist system. The jurist system is widely used in the present and has the input of common people into the decision of a case. The jury would also be given information which may or may not be presented to court. Whilst often, we see in practice the judge can give a verdict even without full concrete evidence, this system prevents criminals to exploit the law and run away with it.
Even so, I still think its unfair because it doesn’t follow the ‘Innocent until proven guilty’ system. Treat it like metagaming. It only lasts until people find ways to make use of it, such as exploiting it to frame others. Still, how many people frame others these days, like leaving forged evidence. Anyway, this is a good thought to hold whilst we wait for GS5 to be released. Forged evidence was also a major topic in GS4, but I believe it will be an even bigger problem in the next game.
Graphics and Sound
One of the main differences of this game and the previous 3 is the graphics. The graphics has been greatly improved. Capcom proves this by showing you shitty graphics flashbacks of Phoenix Wright’s case. There’s also three hotties to stare at, one is 15 which is your sister, and the other, your mother with amnesia. Lol. At least the third one is a detective who throws snackoos at you. I hated Gumshoe, I’m so happy there was a change.
The sound is also great. u heard the theme song above. The remixes have better quality this time.
Humour
HOHOHO! was the sound i made whilst playing the game. It was soo funny. My favourite part was the figure that pointed. I clicked on it nonstop. “OBJECTION!” Eldoon’s salt at the ending also gave me a huge laugh. I won’t spoil the humour any further. Play the game yourself.
New features
Oh no, you don’t have the matagatamatamaf***, i don’t know how to spell that green stone. LOL. But this time, you have a special bangle, one that helps you not in investigation, but in court. This is more attorney like. No more dumb ass detective work. Still, you get to use the ?Magamata? When you play under the Mason system, as Lamiroir. Basically you need to focus at the right places at the right time. There’s no penalty for guessing it wrong.
Overall view
I thought the game was good. I suggest players buy it. Even without knowledge of the previous 3 games, its still adequate to play. The previous 3 games does give you some background on Phoenix Wright successes though. I felt that this game’s ending was pretty good. Still one giant question remains. Is phoenix wright single still? What happened to his love with Iris. I can only speculate that she was murdered and the mystery will be revealed in GS5. One thing was proven right however, Phoenix didn’t give up and lose. He persevered and lived on, and even worked on the new jurist system. He didn’t live on alcohol but grape juice. Now, we should consider the attitude he has when he suffers a fall with that of the people in the world. I don’t see why failing in life should give a person any reason to be a drunkard, but thats another story.

Conclusion
Anyway, this game will be released before T&T as they couldn’t get a teen rating due to teen issues for T&T. Such a shame. Luckily i downloaded it. Its nice to support Europe sales but the shitty rate of releasing games means that we either import or download. DIE EU GAMES!
Last notes: Easter eggs, did you find them all?
example: PW3: Luke Atmey = look at me
AJ:
1) Drew Misham = drew me sham (sham means fraud)
2) Trucy Wright = true see right
3) Eldoon = noodles spelt backwards
The finishing touch of the game is pretty good. The detail is there. Not to forget finding such easter eggs is always good fun. I look forward to GS5.
what figure are you talking about?
“My favourite part was the figure that pointed. I clicked on it nonstop.”
btw nice review.
shelby –> the one wooden figure that was on the table during the investigation of drew studios. tapping it allows you to hear the character say “Objection!”. Kind of nice to hear Phoenix’s voice when you have him in control. Classic!
oh…. i’ll have to check that out… thanks!!
