Developing clairvoyance

Cute Ranka is cute

Maybe I am wrong but I am getting the idea that not many people have a good impression towards Lynn Minmay of SDF Macross. Reasons for disliking her include considering her as a bimbo who is fickle in her relationships. In fact, that did cross my mind as I watched Macross. Often or not would I chuckle at how Hikaru would spend most of his time thinking about Minmay, while on the other hand Minmay was probably having a bad night due to a nightmare about the rise of a new rival who challenges her authority with a wildly popular debut album.

But because I am quirky, I like Minmay a lot and perceive her to be the character who was most developed amongst the cast in SDF Macross. She may have deeds understandable of drawing annoyance from viewers but those were the exact flaws that made me applaud her character so much. Was she not impressionable, indecisive, emotionally vulnerable and whimsical? I love her blind fumblings as they are so reflective of the process of my growing up. Oh shi… I was an impressionable, indecisive, emotionally vulnerable, whimsical bloke. So I may have gotten better or maybe I am just lying to myself.

And at this point, I see and also wish that one specific character in Macross Frontier would come to be as awesome as Minmay was.

This character aspires to become a singer, and thinks she is in love with a pilot. Not only that, she will start to develop a strong sense of rivalry towards another female character. It is also good to note that her love rival is an established singer whom she admires a lot as well, hence the tragic irony. At the moment, she seems to be ‘losing the race’ in winning the heart of the pilot.

So from this point, I will take great delight to watch this young lady experience the pain of growing up. And if I am not wrong, I would expect to see her lose her sense of identity as she tries to prove her worth to the rest of the world as an artiste, pinning expectations on her own self to surpass her rival in both romance and the entertainment scene, and as a woman to the pilot who she loves. Finally, I predict her failure in claiming the heart of the pilot for her own (stirring outrage throughout the internet from fanboys). But fret not for she would have won a moral victory for learning a precious lesson in growing up.

Well do not cry if it really happens and you do not get your Alto X ***** ending. I think it does not matter who Alto, the lucky bastard like all other male characters in anime, ends up with as long as the story is elegantly weaved at its end.

Anyway if I am proven wrong… I, The Sojourner, will jump off some bridge because I am pretty confident in my guessing skills and that is how I have been surviving as a student without studying. Oh that adds up to me being a shameless, impressionable, indecisive, emotionally vulnerable, whimsical bloke.

But I will absolve myself from jumping if it ends with a lolwut ending of surprise yuri love instead.
