DILDO 5: Why do some online games(WoW) suck and ruin your life!?

Over the past few years, online gaming has become quite a hard hit in the gaming industry. With the increase of technology and the availability of files on the net, there has been many recent companies looking to stretch its arm into online gaming, many of which are to test the waters. The P-Meister is one who is in love with online games. He has been playing online games since it first came out, is sick of people telling me how great WOW is. Tis’ time, guest speaker Sojourner is invited to give his views.

The Famous Leeroy Video

P-Meister: What do you think about online gaming Sojourner-sama?

Sojourner: Gosh. Are you trying to be a fansubber as well? Stop adding a ‘sama’ to my name, just like the last time you tried to call me ‘Sojourner-kun’ despite the fact that I am older than you.

As for your question of whether I like online gaming- that would be a yes since I love people and online gaming is about doing it with people. ID Sojourner Someone once told me that playing a game is like masturbating while playing it online is having real sex.

P-Meister: People…? HOHOHO (sounds like whore whore whore)!!! Like Mr. Rez Me Please? No wonder you stopped playing recently… Well, Before we talk about him, let me carry on with the main topic of this post, would you spend your money on the most popular MMORPG of all time, WoW?

The Start of Online Gaming

I remember in the early days when C&C, the very original one first came out. The only internet available was 56kbps dial up. 99.8 of the players played it for the missions, others played it on LAN. Hardly anyone cared about the online portion of the game. That was until Diablo 2 and half-life brought life to online gaming. However, the early community was great.

Money or No Play

Online games have a unique way to prevent piracy, that is with an activation key that can only be used online. Basically if you don’t have an internet, you won’t be able to play the game at all. Simple as that. People who were willing to spend were often serious gamers. The serious players then separated from the regulars as they start gathering in forums and clans. Once in a while, characters with Japanese and Korean nicks started appearing and pawned all the characters. They exploit the game system and overrun the silly regular noobs. Terms like noob, newbie and gosu started appearing.

Sojourner: Damn Koreans. They are the reasons why I can never enjoy my games. I recall dancing with joy when I had defeated a Korean team in one particular MMORPG, one of those rare moments in history.

P-Meister: Oh, you just reminded of a team cussing another team after a victory, saying ‘stupid mudder f***ing #$%# koreans, not so strong after all eh?’ when they actually had chinese nicknames. LOL. Nubcakes.

Sojourner: Not very funny but let us proceed.

So why online games?

Basically, if you can get a game to enjoy, why spend money to play online when there are plenty of offline game torrents out there. Its the same as having a basketball. Basketball is fun only if you play with friends. There is no point playing online games if you’re gonna play it alone. Some play for co-op, some play for versus.

Yet sometimes, a community doesn’t help you. It doesn’t focus in teamwork. I’ll use a common game such as WOW.

WoW SUCKS!!!

OK, this is sensitive issue, i’m not saying that WOW players suck, i mean that the community itself isn’t great at all.

Argument for

Nobody wants to lead raids anymore, the fact that its online and doesn’t promote teamwork makes it all worse. Instead, the online portion is used by people to show off their trophy items and insult others as noobs. Some stupid noobs continue playing to become geeks and then do the same thing and insult other noobs. The fact that it has about 8 mil subscribers makes me sick. Know what style it is? GAY STYLE!

Sojourner: I am not exactly fervent when it comes to such games so I am not sure whether my comments would bear any credibility but would not a monthly subscription fee like the one being imposed by WoW serve as a buffer against ‘immature’ players. I doubt it would be an absolutely effective way to discourage such players from playing WoW but surely I would expect the community of a game void of a monthly subscription, like Guild Wars which you adore so much, to be more rampant when it comes to having ‘undesirable’ players. Or maybe it is just the popularity of certain games that determines this factor. *shrugs*

Argument against

None. Feel free to use the comment function.

Not the worst yet

Still, the community in Blizzard isn’t the worst yet. Battlenet’s community wasn’t too bad. The worst ever online computer game brand to buy is EA games. Seriously, the offline portion can be played just by downloading the torrent and the crack. I recently bought Crysis, and it was a GREAT game, for the single player portion and at the start. The online portion is crap. I had also tried C&C3 and BF2142. Sadly, online-wise, they didn’t do very well.

COMMUNITY!! Now we’re talking!! (WoW)

So, now we ALL know that community is the big thing in online gaming, what makes a community strong?

1) Smart(not skillful) players

2) Teamwork and communication

3) Good interested and interesting GMs

4) Balance and smart game system

Now which part of WoW is bad, I’d say its 3 and 4. Firstly, it was under the rules that spoiling the game for others is prohibited and may result in account suspension or ban. This of course not only includes hacking and cheating but should also include flaming, trolling, cursing and swearing. If it was a joke, it could be pardoned. However 9 year olds in WOW are scolding other 9 year olds that makes world war 2 seem like a small thing. (Unless you cursed the moderators themselves, you’d get banned. Besides that, I think people like to exercise the freedom of speech.) A suspension for 3 days should teach them a lesson. Thats a thumbs down for GM soft-heartedness.

Also, the alliance is surprisingly more popular and have way more tards and noobs in the game. Sad but true. Why? Because everyone wants to be the GOOD humans and elves!! Oh well… The fact that WoW graphics is horrid doesn’t make things any better. However, Horde seems to be popular in some countries and have great players too. WHY? Because its more popular in Asia. Asians play games better than americans. Period. Remember the terms noob, newbie and gosu. Gosu is korean.

Horrible Graphics

The game system itself isn’t impressive as it doesn’t allow you to develop the character the way you want. There is no multiclassing and many games such as DnD, Guild Wars, Neverwinter Nights has multiclassing so people can role-play. Thats what a role-playing game is for. Also, WoW has a lack of pretty girls…

Sojourner: Hey. I use female characters because they are nice to look at and they attract desperate losers great guys who are very willing to offer assistance and free items. This session is boring. Can I leave?

P-Meister: Female orc butt sehx anyone??

There are a few things that I could say thats good about WoW but this post isn’t about how good WoW is.

Not all online games suck

Not all online games suck and I won’t tell you which to play but I wish all game addicts consider what game they would actually enjoy.

The Asian Play Style

In many games, I often check from where the players are from, and sadly, all the Asians who I know turned out to be much better players than Americans. Not that Americans suck, they just have too many people who lack intelligence and creativity. Perhaps there are 100 pro Americans and 100 pro Asians, but there’s 100 noob Asians and 100,000 noob Americans. Get what I mean. Americans like to play to show off. Its in their blood. Asians like to play to achieve perfection. There is a difference. (I’m not American. Lol.) Americans can be pro, if they agree with me. KEKEKE.

Hence whenever I PVP and meet Uber Powerful Ranger, I’d not be afraid. Instead, i’ll be afraid of a Korean or Japanese player whose name i can’t read. I have played pvp with Japanese and one of them showed great teamwork and planning skills that owned the entire AB map in Guild Wars. Funny… Here’s a video on good teamwork.

P-Meister: ? Sojourner is evolving!

ID Sojourner: MY FRIEND. WHY HAVE YOU NOT MENTIONED THE ASPECT OF MMORPGs THAT MAKES THEM SO AWESOME?

P-Meister: What are you talking about?

ID Sojourner: FOOLISH DONKEY OF THE CENTURY! Have you forgotten about the HERO?

P-Meister: !!!! How could I have forgotten…

ID Sojourner: Courage is his blood. His blade is his wrath. Those eyes of his know nothing of fear.

P-Meister: ‘Alright. We need to do this wisely and try not to draw too much aggro.’

ID Sojourner: To him, impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they have been given than to change it.

P-Meister: ‘Let us do a mana check. Are our healers ready to set up the enchants?’

ID Sojourner: To him, impossible is not a fact.

P-Meister: ‘Cynical, do not forget to set up the all effect ritual spell once we draw the mob’

ID Sojourner: To him. it is a declaration.

P-Meister: ‘Remember. Take out the Illusionists first, they are gonna screw us if we were to ignore them. And I expect Lady Jean to keep those axe beserkers blinded.’

ID Sojourner: To him, it is a dare.

P-Meister: ‘Iwana Argroo. You are the tank and the one to pull them. Remember to swap equipment sets when you slowly draw them to us, you will need the extra armour.’

ID Sojourner: To him, impossible is potential.

P-Meister: ‘Argroo? Are you listening?’

ID Sojourner: To him, impossible is temporary.

ID Sojourner: IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.

P-Meister: ‘OMG. STOP AGGROING!’

ID Sojourner: HEAL PLZ.

Conclusion

When you consider getting into and RPG or if you’re already in an RPG, please do refrain from from having the wrong attitude towards it. Remember the words teamwork and friendship. Or else, thrash your internet connection. Hope you enjoyed this read. Sorry WoW fans. – Your Beloved P-Meister. Many thanks to Sojourner(-sama).

Sojourner: Enough with the sama please.
