Yet another episode of Soul Eater has passed and I have yet to be disappointed. Although its the tenth episode, I feel that Soul Eater is still in its introductory phase and has yet to enter the main story arc. This time its Black Star and Tsubaki’s turn to be introduced. Kekeke.

CHIDORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Episode Summary

This episode explores more about Tsubaki’s history. As the fey blade known as Masamune seeks to become the demon god, Tsubaki and Black Star moves on to oppose it. However, Tsubaki was the one that wanted to hunt this weapon. Black Star then enters the village as a complete retard as usual and made enemies with everyone. This turned out to be quite funny however, I just can’t get enough of him.

Anyway, Black Star’s history isn’t shallow as he revealed his roots to be from the Star Clan, a clan that used to kill for money. Apparently, Black Star was the only survivor. However, Tsubaki feels guilty for hiding stuff from him, yet with that uber MANLY response, Black Star always seem to be right for Tsubaki. He never seems smart enough to be angry.

As Masamune possesses the boy which they met earlier, there was a scream where that old man in his ‘prime’ after his encounter with the possessed boy. ‘Prime’ to him meant humping apparently, I suppose many of us would feel that we’re in our prime if we still have our sex drive at his age. Example: Shaking ass.

Anyway, moving on, a fight ensues between Masamune and Black Star. In the middle of the fight. Black star uses Speed Star but the ground was too slippery. He claimed it wasn’t his ‘time’. As he waited, he finally found an opening and revealed his resonance of souls move, Star Shield. This was the final attack as he crashed the possessed boy with his soul frequency and forced Masamune to release its stranglehold.

Tsubaki however unexpectedly picks up the blade and fights with it. She then refers to him as brother…
My thoughts on Black Star and Tsubaki
Black Star acts like a retard. A lot of people may find him irritating. However, I found him to be quite interesting, in the way that he’s honest and we know that nothing shitty will come out of him. He also has the fighting abilities that a main character needs, though he’s not the main character, or else this anime series would be called Black Stard. I’m pretty sure he has a good reason for being a retard. It better be better than Narutard’s. Is he sophisticated? or just downright retarded? Only time will tell.

Tsubaki on the other hand has the reserved quality. She’s like an angel and doesn’t complain. To name another anime character that compares well with her, I’d say it’ll be Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess. Tsubaki also has quite beautiful eyes and a hot bod. Still, I believe she needs to make an effort to increase Black Star’s potential, not that she isn’t trying hard enough, its just that Black Star will never try. Too bad for her.
My thoughts on this Episode
I am happy this series is not about the same ol’ Technician-Weapon pair all the time. In fact, this anime is still in its infant stages. Every episode we learn new things. In this one we learnt about Black Star’s history summarised and a little about Tsubaki and her brother. Also it ended near the climax point, making watchers excited about the next episode. I really wish this story would enter the main story arc at episode 18 or so, giving some more time for Death the Kid. I’m also curious why Kid is such a perfectionist. Also, I’d like to know more about how Black Star feels about Tsubaki.
Next Episode

Next episode will continue the fight. OMG! Black Star getting whacked. Tsubaki getting slashed!! Can’t wait for it!!
