In the review of the previous 4 episodes, the great anime fortune teller P-Meister mentioned that this anime has a lot of potential. This has proven to be true! In ep 05-08, the P-Meister was amazed. Instead of doing it episodic, this time I’ll give an overall review after summarizing the events so far.

Summary: Episode 5
I feel that Ep 5 is similar to 1-4 as it introduces a new character, called Stein. This time, soul compatibility is explained. The story starts with the glorious entrance of stein! This guy rocks…

He rolls his chair and falls off the ledge.

What on earth is he?

OK, that sounds reasonable… he goes to try again

He falls again……….

…… *speechless
Maka is a girl with a confused and indecisive soul while Soul is one with a earnest and hardworking soul. They definitely don’t match. Her indecisiveness and fears will hurt Soul in the many episodes to come
The souls of Tsubaki and Black Star are compatible, despite the difficulty of finding a good pair for Black Star. Black Star has a wild and crazy soul and Tsubaki has one that is widely compatible and understanding.
What happens right after is they fight Dr. Stein. Dr. Stein is able to use his soul to directly attack without a weapon, thus thrashing Maka and Soul. However, he’s not the only one, the crazy kid Death star was also able to do so.

Still, it wasn’t powerful enough. He got hit back and blood gushes out of his head and he lays on the floor silent. Maka was then able to see souls. She got afraid at the size of Dr. Stein’s soul. Soul then manages to shake Maka up and help her get rid of her fears while they both used the Witch Hunter skill.

Finally it worked… not… It wasn’t strong enough. Stein walked towards Maka as Soul covered his body around her, ready to sacrifice. It turns out that both of them had passed the remedial lesson, woohoo! Their new teacher is now Dr. Stein. LOLZ. Death Star didn’t die too.
Episode 6
EPISODE 6 IS TEH BEST! HOHOHO! It kept me laughing from the start to the end. This is an episode that introduced more of Death the Kid’s power. His first entrance was quite freaky, lol.

Anyway, he was late for school and made Soul and Black Star wait. It turns out that Black Star wants Soul as a weapon. Bye bye Tsubaki. Tsubaki is really worried about it, seems like there’s some sort of love love story going on.

Following is a fight of Death the Kid’s. Black Star really acted like a retard. HAHA! He broke the symmetry of the building and a fight ensues. Both couldn’t get near hurting Kid at all. Finally, Soul turned into a scythe. Turns out that they don’t sync, uh oh. Luckily we get to see a scene of true friendship. I think its more gayness than friendship.

Alas, they are defeated by Kid’s resonance of souls move. BANG BANG! LOL! This part shows how retarded they are.

People who see souls!

People who can’t see souls! LOL, they don’t know what they are facing.
They are then blasted into crisps.

BOOM! Good riddance!
The victory is then reversed as Kid falls to the floor and vomits blood, upon realising the symmetry of his hair is screwed as Soul cut a part of it. The concern of the girls to their respective partners is then shown. With Tsubaki, Black Star doesn’t seem to notice much about her and only cares about himself surpassing the level of God. Soul on the other hand seemed to be closer to Maka. A little hint of a potential love love story coming up!

Episode 7
Episodes 7 and 8 are linked as most of the events happened in Italy! Maka and Soul goes on a hunt against and despatches him easily. BOO.. the end!! Just as they were about to leave, Maka felt strange soul behavior, probably her only useful ability. I won’t say its really useful. As they go to investigate, they realise that some wierd person just ate human souls. As this is prohibited, Maka tries to stop her, oops… him! OMG THATS A GUY!

However her indecisiveness and weakness hurt herself and soul as well. I’ll shorten a bit on the great fighting action. Maka’s scythe can’t hurt it at all. Seems like an attack like Dr. Stein’s and Death Star’s would then be useful as the blood of Chrona is the weapon, Ragnarok, it hardens upon impact. Being afraid to damage Soul further, Maka is unable to retaliate and loses the battle.

On moon sits a witch who is the mastermind behind the schenes. I’m sure you’ve seen her in the opening theme already. Her name is Medusa. I’m sure you’ll know why in the next episode.

The episodes then end with Soul sacrificing himself to protect Maka!

Episode 8
Maka holds Soul as he is about to die. The girl could do nothing but cry. Oh well… typical girls. Luckily, this episode properly introduced two uber cool guys!! Death Scythe and Dr. Stein. They then explain that they need to stop Chrona from becoming a kishin. Death Scythe and Dr. Stein did way better than Soul and Maka, completely thrashing Chrona.

Later, the witch intervenes. A barrier system is then explained, that witches can use a barrier to hide souls, that is why Maka didn’t sense her at all. The witch attacks with snake like things, which prolly explains why she is called Medusa.

The two guys would have chased but they decided for Soul’s sake, they would probably be going back to Shibusen.
Later, it is shown that one of their teachers is actually Medusa. Its so obvious. Lolz. She may be the BBEG of the story.
My thoughts on 5-8
For a 26 episode series, this anime still hasn’t slowed down its pace. Its animation remains as amazing as ever. If you looked closely at the floor even in battles, you can tell that the animators have put a lot of detail into it. Somehow, it seemed to have slacked a little compared to 1-4. Perhaps its just my imagination. The occasional lulz was pretty good, especially episode 6. Not to forget the sidelines that Blair played. Blair is simply amazing.
My favourite character is Dr. Stein. I wish he was my teacher. LOL~! He left the endangered bird there while it was still alive.

I’m also glad they did introduce a little more about the Thompson sisters, about them being from the streets and having a admiration for Kid. These little bits of info that could have been missed out are important and nice to watch. Episode 6 was similar to a filler, yet interesting in everyway.
These 4 episodes have less Pantsu too. MORE PANTSU PLEASE!!! There’s also plenty of introduction of Maka and Soul. Lets pray that the next few episodes will be for Kid and Black Star. I wanna see Tsubaki eat a soul.
Also, this is prolly where the story begins, from 7-8 onwards. There’s a lot of new stuff coming out each episode. Can’t wait till 9 is out. Soul Eater is on its way to become a FTW anime. Watch it baby!
Next episode: Is that Excalibur?
Looks like fun…

My only gripe about this show is that it could really use much less Black Star. Man, I want to smack that annoying kid upside down.
Why can’t he be an adorable shota instead?

You just convinced me to pick up Soul Eater. (: I’m bored and was trying to pick a series out of the many to watch but none really interest me. I think Soul Eater will be worth the try. ^.^

Shin–> I love Black Star(i just realised that i’ve been spelling his name wrongly as death star, changed it now!), he’s the funniest.
Hynavian–> You won’t regret it!
53RG10–> I just noticed, the characters have colourful clothing, but under the dim lighting of the anime, it wasn’t too obvious.

@Shin: I love Black Star!
But Death the Kid is my favourite~ But Dr Stein is pretty cool too. Looks like he’s gonna get his ass kicked or kick some ass in the next ep!
