Ebay the Right Way

One day, the P-Meister was browsing some anime blog site and he saw this google advert. It said Manga Cheap! Well, the P-Meister was bored and decided to take a look. Guess what he came across… EBAY. At first, it was quite dissapointing… however, as he browsed a few pages of models, he found several things that caught his eye.

The Start of His Search

KOS MOS is one of my favourite characters in Xenosaga. Also, she shares several references with the female protagonist in my favourite RPG, Xenogears!! Upon closer inspection, I realised that the models weren’t really amazing because its small and its details aren’t sharp enough. I decided to look for more KOS-MOS models… then i came across…

 

Some Revelation

Wow! KOS-MOS SEXY!! I was so tempted to buy them, since the price was only 7£(S$20) each. Guess which one tempted me the most *mouseover image for answer* However, I resisted the urge and temptation(I couldn’t find the one that tempted me the most, apparently its not on sale. Sigh…)

 ANYWAY… For many years, I’ve been asking 1 question. If Gundam had models for their mechas, why didn’t Xenogears or Xenosaga? Later, I decided to search for Gundam models and i came across this.

 

A Sneaky Advert

Beautiful work, Its fully painted and better than my own version which is non-hybrid. It’s also 1/144 size which is the sizes i collect for my models. I don’t remembering seeing any 1/144 with akatsuki hybrids, not even in Japan! Upon inspecting further, I realised it to be quite sneaky. Although there were more than 10 pictures of it, it was in the same pose all the time. The different angles makes it look different only. Sigh…. I don’t think its joints can move, thus I thrashed it. This one cost 9£(S$25) btw.

 

Expensive 8 Inches models

Anyway, back to KOS-MOS, further search revealed that more detailed models were available, but!! They cost WAY a lot more 60£(S$170). Sigh… I’ll show a picture below.

I know I’m cheapskate, but i’m not gonna spend that much on a model I don’t really like such as Telos. I was hoping for KOS-MOS V4 model.

Finally… There she was… staring right at me… 8 inch model, costing only 40£(115).

My Resolution

Placing the model in bookmark, I decided to buy it if I do well in exams. DON’T CALL ME A CHEAPSKATE WUSS! I overshot my expenditures by 1k£ already. I AM SO SAD!!! Anyway, my exams is on 2^nd of June. I will be blogging less till then. I used to be always scoring As in A-levels, in med school, i’m always scoring Cs. Cs is considered good in medical school as all the students there have been scoring straight As in A levels. However, the C still makes my grades look unappealing. I’ll have to work harder. The Strike Freedom in my room is enough of a distraction. If i do get this KOS-MOS Model, I’ll post the details of it and take pictures of it at every angle and show it to everyone, even the angle from the bottom, keke! So… wish me luck. Actually I will buy it even if I score a C. LOL. Lets pray i don’t get anything worse that that!

 

Scams

In Ebay, there are many scams, please note that you can report these users and get your money back. Also, do pick sellers with at least 95% positive feedback. Give extra notes about your address if your area is hard to find. Lastly, try to limit the price at 29.99£ (not including shipping). Several countries like the UK charge VAT for products costing more than 30£. You may like to check the shipping rules in your own country. Anyway, many models online are cheap so you’ve got nothing to worry about.

 

Conclusion

Anyway, to conclude, I realised that Ebay has a wide variety anime merchandises. Besides games, I never bought any anime merchandises from Ebay. Its ok to look at it once in a while and you might be lucky and strike a really cheap model… Like me. Its a pretty reliable source as many of my products have reached me intact. Like my DS. Still, a lot of its stuff are outdated. New models take some time to come out. However, they still sell cheap. Look at this, a Kyrios model, 1/144 and only 7£, WOOT, unassembled, with prepainted parts. Its like somebody doing the prof job for you. It may not have as much choices as Akihabara, but it is a source where all overseas anime fans can look to.
