Its just a different point of view however. Like I said, most people would expect Black Star to have become a liability sort of character judging from his first appearance. However he proved us all wrong right? Only time will tell the quality of this anime.. =) Keep your mind open for surprises.

black star’s actions in ep2 completely mimic every cliched shounen hero in the past, soul eater himself is the same with a ‘COUGHBULLSHITcoolCOUGHBULLSHIT’ attitude slapped on.

death the kid is by no means original, but still the most refreshing male character to watch. and even then they had to take his little quirks in the manga and amplify them to take up half of episode 3 and make him infinitely less likable.

the only improvement over the (so-so)manga is that it’s animated(pretty darned well) now.

the choice of VAs is a letdown as well. It’s like they decided to blow all their budget on animation and settle for beginner voice actors.

I’m going to be watching this for the awesome animation and fights, but that’s about it. Not expecting the story to blow me away.
